Bus plunge kills 9 in Philippines

At le ast nine people were killed and 32 others injured, including two Dutch nationals, when a passenger bus fell into a 1,600ft ravine in the northern Philippines.
Police Inspector Ramon Garcia said the incident happened this morning in Bontoc, a resort town 175 miles north of the capital Manila, and known for its mountainside rice terraces.
He said the weather was fine at the time of the accident, and investigators were trying to verify if it was due to mechanical problems or human error. Two children, aged four and seven, were among the injured.
The office of civil defence says the bus from Manila had 47 passengers on board.
