Big girl images healthier

After being shown pictures of plus-size models, women who had a strong bias in favour of slimness became less keen.

But after seeing similar photos of slender models, their preference for thinness increased.

Dr Lynda Booth-royd of Durham University said: "This gives us food for thought about exposure to slim bodies. Being surrounded by thin models contributes to women's unhealthy attitude to their bodies."
