Two mental health evaluations have found that the Batman cinema gunman was sane at the time of the shooting rampage which left 12 dead and 70 injured.
The results of the evaluations from different psychiatrists are the first time the court in Centennial, Denver, Colorado has been told of the state of mind of James Holmes.
"Both of them said the same thing: that that guy was sane when he tried to murder all those people in the theatre back in July of 2012," said District Attorney George Brauchler.
Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the killings when h e opened fire at a midnight showing of a Batman movie in suburban Denver. The July 20, 2012, mass shooting was one of America's deadliest.
