Banker becomes witch doctor after three months in the bush
A BRITISH banking consultant has retrained as a witch doctor after a three-month initiation in the South African bush, writes Aislinn Laing.
Thomas Heathfield (32), from Berkshire in England, went without any sleep for three days, rose at 2.30am to dance for the tribal ancestors and even regurgitated goat blood as part of his training to become a sangoma.
He slept in the bush, wore traditional robes and was sent to hunt for animal body parts hidden by locals.
"It's very much grounded and there's nothing 'new age' or 'airy fairy' about it -- you get your hands dirty," Mr Heathfield said. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
