Baby saved after mum-to-be killed

A gunman killed a pregnant woman inside a Catholic church and then committed suicide, Spanish police said last night.

However, emergency crews performed a caesarean section on the woman and were able to save the baby.

A police official said another woman was wounded by a stray bullet in the Madrid shooting, which happened before the start of Mass.

The portable cassette player finished second in the poll conducted by tech and gadget website T3.com, while Apple's iPod was ranked third by readers. Apple also took first place with the iPhone.

Walliams still ill after river swim

DAVID Walliams is still suffering from the effects of a charity Thames swim.

The 'Little Britain' star struggled with a stomach upset after swallowing bacteria-filled water during the swim, which raised £1m (€1.15m). A Comic Relief spokeswoman said: "He is being treated and has been advised that it is not serious."

Elton kicks off show in Las Vegas

ELTON John has returned to Las Vegas for a three-week gig at Caesars Palace.

The Vegas performances are the first airings of his new show, entitled 'The Million Dollar Piano', named after the instrument he will play during the show -- a piano that took manufacturer Yamaha four years to build.

Baby in care after ingesting cocaine

THE parents of a California toddler have been arrested after the boy swallowed cocaine.

The 18-month old showed signs of being under the influence of cocaine when police arrived at the couple's apartment, after the boy's mother, Priscilla Tabarez (20), called for an ambulance. The boy is now in protective custody.
