A MESSAGE in a bottle which was cast out to sea 76 years ago has been returned to the sender’s family.
The note, dated March 17, said: "At sea. Would the finder of this bottle kindly forward this note...to undermentioned address."
Underneath the note was written the name: "H E Hillbrick, 72, Richmond Street, Leederville, Western Australia".
The bottle was found on a beach in New Zealand by Geoff Flood late last year, and after some research he discovered the sender was Herbert Ernest Hillbrick.
Hillbrick died in the 1940s however his grandson still lives in the Perth area of Australia and was delighted to be reunited with a small part of his Grandfather.
