Dramatic video footage has emerged showing the moment a driver in Taiwan narrowly avoided being crushed beneath a huge boulder that tumbled onto a highway during a landslide.

A dashboard camera captures the heart stopping moment a landslide cascades onto the road flinging mud and rocks at vehicles and launching a huge boulder towards a car.

The boulder, which was several times the size of the car, stops just short of crushing the vehicle in the footage shot in Keelung City. There were no reports of injuries following the incident.

Recent heavy rain has triggered a series of mudslides across Taiwan in recent weeks. Elsewhere, 19 people were injured in a train derailment.

In 2009 63 Taiwanese villagers were killed by mudslides as sparked by typhoon Morakot
