The actress wife of Johnny Depp yesterday pleaded guilty in Australia to falsifying documents when bringing her two pet dogs into the country aboard a private jet last May - but pinned the blame on the couple's two assistants.

Amber Heard insisted she would only travel internationally with her Yorkshire Terriers - Pistol and Boo - if the correct approvals had been sought.

She told a court in Queensland that securing permission was typically the role of Depp's assistant, named as Kevin Murphy, and her own assistant, who was dismissed shortly before the trip in unspecified "acrimonious circumstances".

She (29) said Murphy told her: "It is fine".

Her barrister said the paperwork "fell through the cracks", apparently due to a mix-up in communication between the two assistants.

Heard said she accepted responsibility and the couple even released a video - later dubbed the 'dogpology' - in which she and Depp sat together, stern-faced, as she expressed remorse for failing to declare the terriers. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
