Hong Kong's richest man has forced the Roman Catholic Church in the territory to issue a public apology after a priest branded the tycoon "the real devil".
Li Ka-shing, an 82-year-old oligarch worth £13bn (€15.1bn), was criticised by Fr Thomas Law Kwok-fai, who said the property developer "should be afraid about the last few years of his life".
Mr Li, who has pledged to donate a third of his fortune to charities, including Caritas, which is run by the Catholic Church, was incensed. One of the billionaire's assistants complained to the church.
The diocese issued a statement expressing "its regret for the displeasure caused to Mr Li Ka-shing by the 'devil' comments". (© Daily Telegraph, London)
