A teenage boy who drifted alone in the Pacific Ocean for 11-days has been rescued.

The boy, Bwanikatang Tebuanna, was rescued alongside three fishermen who were also stranded at sea, who ended up within five miles of his fiberglass boat.

They weren't aware of each other prior to their rescue.

All four were rescued together by a Papua New Guinea vessel on Sunday.

The young boy did not know how to operate the engine of the boat he was on and was left without food for his entire stretch at sea. An incoming tide washed his boat away from Tarawa in the Republic of Kiribati.

The Marshall Islands Journal reported that all four were brought to hospital in Majuro where one person was kept in overnight for observation.
