You can now play against the England Rugby team in virtual reality

By Jessica Pitocchi

O2 has brought out a new series of cool VR live entertainment experiences.

Rugby fans rejoyce, because it’s now possible for you to play at Twickenham and see how you fare against the England team.

The only slight catch, it’s in VR.

O2 has launched a new series of virtual reality experiences combining 360 video with interactive CGI characters.

You can go take part in virtual drills and go head to head against the likes of Dylan Hartley, George Ford, Maro Itoje, Ben Youngs, Henry Slade as well as Mako and Billy Vunipola, who were all motion captured for the game.

But if rugby’s not your thing, fear not because you can instead explore an O2 Academy venue, either as the star of a sold out show or as a fan in the crowd.

The live entertainment-style experiences will be available to try in 90 O2 stores across the country – or, excitingly, at Twickenham on match days – or at The O2.

Though later on this year, they’ll be available to download for yourself, and are compatible with multiple VR platforms.
