A new iPhone application claims to have the potential to turn anyone an expert instantly

Wine bores beware - a new iPhone app has been launched which claims to make anybody an instant expert.

WINEfindr features image recognition technology which lets users snap the label on a bottle of wine for instant price comparison and recommendations.

The app also suggests alternative bottles and searches through wine in its database based on price or availability.

It even lets users reserve bottles online, so when the time comes for a supermarket shop the wine is already waiting in the basket.

WINEfindr users are encouraged to submit their own reviews and tasting notes for bottles not included in the database and wine can be rated and shared through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Finally, the app acts as a pocket sommelier and offers suggestions for suitable wine to complement your meal.

The app is available from Apple's iTunes store at a launch price of £2.99, normal price is £4.99.
