A snake has been stolen during a break-in at a house.
Police have warned residents to be on the look-out for the red and brown Lipstick Jungle Boa after it was stolen from a house in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire.
The snake is not dangerous but is only a baby and will die without proper care and equipment, a Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said.
Burglars took the two-year-old snake, called Jane, when they broke into the house in Church Street.
They also stole a digital receiver box after smashing their way through the rear patio window.
Pc Sonya Thompson said: "The snake is a red and brown constrictor and approximately 1.5ft long. Being that we are in England and we don't see many around the place, the snake is very distinctive.
"It is not dangerous as it's only a baby but without the correct equipment it will likely die. If you know where Jane is, or see her, please call us."
Anyone with any information on the burglary, which took place between 2.30pm on November 4 and 12.30pm on November 5, should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
