Virgin offers art gallery on planes

Virgin Atlantic will give first class passengers the chance to buy paintings during the flight

Virgin Atlantic is to launch a commercial art gallery for its Upper Class passengers while they fly to their destination.

The airline said its partnership with British artist Ben Eine was a world first, offering travellers flying between London and New York the chance to buy a series of his paintings.

The so-called Gallery in the Air takes place during February and will be the first in a series of on-board collaborations with artists.

Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson said: "I am a huge fan of Ben's work and, like us, he does things differently and doesn't follow the crowd."
