Valentine gift blamed for power cut
A Valentine's Day gift is being blamed for a large power cut in southern California.
Southern California Edison power company spokesman David Song said a helium-filled balloon scored a direct hit on the company's Fontana substation on Tuesday night, knocking out power to 15,099 customers.
Mr Song said the balloon was likely a Valentine's gift. It left the area without power for over an hour.
He added that balloon-related power outages occurred most often around Valentine's Day and in June during school graduations.
