US teenager gets stuck in chimney
A California teenager has learned the hard way that he is no Santa Claus - after getting stuck in a chimney while trying to sneak into his house.
According to the Stockton Record, George Herrera, 18, managed to get trapped while trying to get inside his house in the town after breaking a curfew.
Art Ray, of the Stockton Fire Department, said Herrera was trapped near the chimney bottom for about 90 minutes before emergency crews were called on Thursday. When they arrived, they could see his feet sticking out of the fireplace.
He said rescuers secured ropes around the teenager's wrists and pulled him up about eight feet with the help of a firetruck ladder.
Herrera was unhurt in the incident and was allowed to return home after the rescue, which took about 15 minutes.
