Try not to tear up when you read this story of this dog and its best friend who passed away
It’s got Twitter sobbing.
It’s a peculiar fact of life that dog-based tales of woe have more power to move you than pretty much anything else (hello, Marley And Me). Case in point, this story that was posted on Twitter…
Twitter user @_EasyBreasy_ posted a picture of a half-eaten bowl of dog food. It might seem a bit mundane, but the story in it has people welling up.
_EasyBreasy_’s two Labradors, Stitch and Cookie, were trained to eat half of the bowl of food each, but things got a bit complicated when Stitch died.
He writes: “This is Cookie’s first time alone.” Since there was only one dog to feed, Cookie was served up one portion in the same bowl.
Proving that you really can’t teach an old dog new tricks, _EasyBreasy_ said: “Before I went to bed, I wanted to check to see if she ate. And so I did, and she still left half of her food there so Stitch can eat.”

That’s right – not yet ready to let his pal go, Cookie was looking out for Stitch – even though Stitch was gone. Chills.
If this simple story has made you feel feelings, you are by no means alone. Twitter has responded in the only way it knows how: through gifs.
When you can’t quite vocalise your emotions, at least gifs are on hand to help you out.
