This Tory candidate's awkward yet musical campaign video has to be seen to be believed

Honestly, watch the video to the end.

Sir Greg Knight, the Conservative candidate for East Yorkshire, has made sure his election campaign video is one to remember, for both its awkwardness and its creativity.

The bizarre video, that wouldn’t look out of place in an episode of I’m Alan Partridge, begins with a slow stroll into the room.

After about 30 seconds of talking – which, of course, includes the words “strong and stable” – a retro beat kicks in, the camera zooms into a campaign poster for Knight, and the following lyrics are sang:

“You’ll get accountability, with Conservative delivery.
“Make sure this time you get it right, vote for Greg Knight.”

And yes, it all might seem too good to be true but the video and an audio file of the song alone both appear on the candidate’s website.

Knight will be defending a majority of nearly 15,000 in the constituency on Thursday.
