This team-goal suggests Pep Guardiola's style might finally have arrived at Manchester City
That’s more like it.
It’s fair to say Manchester City’s first season under Pep Guardiola has not gone to plan, but this video evidence suggests next year could be very different.
City began the season with six consecutive league wins that hinted at a title challenge, but with seven games remaining, the Citizens find themselves 14 points off league leaders Chelsea.
However, it’s not all bad – as this video from the club shows, the players might just be starting to embrace the true meaning of Pep’s football vision.
The goal put City 2-0 up against Hull City, and was a perfect demonstration of controlled building of possession up the pitch – the fact everybody touched the ball served as a nod to the Total Football of one of Guardiola’s inspirations – the late, great Johan Cruyff.
City clinched the game 3-1, and the beauty of the goal didn’t go unacknowledged.
There’s certainly still room for improvement though…
… if they ever do it against Barcelona, that would be something.
