This New Zealand politician pulled an Ed Balls on Twitter and Balls responded perfectly
Will there now be a Winston Peters Day as well?
The now iconic moment in 2011 when Ed Balls tweeted his own name has gone down in history – but it would seem as though other politicians haven’t quite learned from his mistake.
It looks like New Zealand politician Winston Peters has done something very similar. Instead of searching for his name, which is what people are assuming he was trying to do, he accidentally tweeted out “tweets on Winston Peters NZ politician.”

Of course, he might have meant to tweet this – but many people think that this is highly unlikely.
When people saw the tweet, there was one unified reaction.

In fact, people were soon trying to get Balls to lend Peters a hand – he must now be a pro at Twitter since his now iconic gaffe.
And then Balls did step in, but not to help. Instead, his reply to Peters was far more priceless.

This was just too much for Ed Balls Day fans.

Peters has since tweeted that the “culprit has been found” – suggesting that it wasn’t him who sent the tweet.

However, he’s left the tweet on his page, telling Stuff it was to give people “something to laugh about”.
