This is what people are saying about Brexit as Article 50 is about to be triggered

By Prudence Wade

The letter is en route to Brussels and it’s all anyone can talk about.

Happy Brexit Day one and all! We’re not entirely sure why it’s being dubbed “Brexit Day” seeing as it’s merely the triggering of Article 50 rather than Britain actually leaving the EU, but let’s not get bogged down in technicalities.

Instead, let’s take a look at what people are saying about Brexit on this pivotal day.

On one side of the spectrum, people are feeling pretty bummed out. Many feel lost, not knowing what will happen moving forward.

There are those who are just plain pessimistic.

And others who are as gloomy as the weather outside.

However, on the other side of the spectrum there is palpable excitement and delight at the prospect of leaving the EU.

Indeed, according to a YouGov poll there is little sign of “Bregret” (yes, that’s apparently now a word).

Results show that even though the vote split 52%-48% in favour of leaving at the referendum, support for going forward with Brexit is now higher. Overall, the public think Brexit should go ahead by 69% to 21%.

But not everyone is taking a political side. Instead, some are expending their energies to find the funny side in all of this.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, there’s no doubt that there’s an excessive amount of chat about Brexit today. For many, it’s just getting to be a bit too much.

Seriously, there’s only so much you can hear about Brexit Day. Excuse us while we go look at some cat videos on YouTube instead.
