There is something pretty important missing from a photo of Republicans discussing cuts to maternity care

Mike Pence posted the picture on Twitter that’s got everyone talking.

US Vice President Mike Pence has been huddled at the White House with various senior Republicans, trying to come to some form of agreement over Donald Trump’s healthcare legislation.

Most GOP opponents were conservatives asserting that the legislation demolishing Obamacare did not go far enough, particularly demanding repeal of the law’s requirements that insurers pay for specified services like maternity care.

Pence was kind enough to post a picture of himself and some members of the Freedom Caucus (a group of conservative Republican members of the House of Representatives) discussing such issues, and it’s raised more than a few eyebrows.

Why? Some people find it pretty arresting that the group discussing important issues like maternity care are all male.

In fact, the lack of diversity as a whole has really got people talking.

Many find it quite a baffling misrepresentation of the country.

It’s really giving us deja vu, harking back to when Trump signed the global gag rule surrounded by men.

Of course maternity care isn’t the only hot topic on the table in this multi-faceted debate over healthcare, but it is still interesting to note the cross-section of politicians representing the interests of the whole country.
