Connor Dewhurst, 14, and Sam Thomas, 13, who are serving sentences at Barton Moss Secure Unit in Salford, cycled away from supervisors on Wednesday morning.

Dewhurst was apprehended in Blackburn but Thomas remains at large.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of escape from lawful custody in Blackburn. Officers are no longer looking for Connor Dewhurst."

Dewhurst is serving a custodial sentence for assaulting a police officer and Thomas is serving a sentence for robbery.

One was riding a silver Claud Butler bike and the other was on a red Kote mountain bike.

Both boys are from the Lancashire area, in particular Blackburn and Blackpool.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Thomas should contact police on 0161 872 5050 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
