Ornamental fish thought to have been stolen from their pond have been discovered lurking at the bottom by their owner.

Police launched an investigation after 16 orange goldfish, black and orange Koi and large orange carp were reported stolen from a water feature at a house in Kirkpatrick Fleming in Dumfries and Galloway overnight between Sunday and Monday.

However, the fish, worth about £400, have now been found by the owner at the bottom of the pond.

Police are still investigating the theft of around 15 Koi carp from Newton Square in Gretna on Tuesday April 21.

The fish, worth around £500, were taken sometime between 5.30am and 6.30pm that day.

Officers appealed for information about the theft.
