A Royal Navy seaman disembarked from a seven-month tour at sea, and immediately got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend.
Able Seaman Specialist Ben Pritchett, 21, had been aboard the destroyer HMS Manchester when he saw his girlfriend of 14 months Kayleigh Williams on the dockside at Portsmouth Naval Base.
Mr Pritchett disembarked, then knelt down and produced the engagement ring to a shocked Miss Williams, 19, who said yes immediately.
The couple, from Portsmouth, have not yet set a date.
The seaman said: "I have been planning it for seven months but I was very nervous about what Kayleigh would say, but she said yes.
"We have been together for a year and two months and I'm extremely pleased to be back home."
HMS Manchester arrived home from the Caribbean after the deployment in which she scored two major drug busts recovering millions of pounds worth of cocaine and marijuana in two separate drug hauls.
In the biggest, she caught Colombian drug runners with an estimated £168 million of cocaine in October.
She was also involved in providing disaster relief to the British Overseas Territories during the hurricane season.
