Veteran shock rocker Alice Cooper has judged a talent show with a difference - in the bowels of the London Dungeon.

The acts included several men who hammered nails up their noses, two separate acts who walked on broken glass and a woman in a straitjacket singing the country classic Crazy.

Cooper who said the spooky surroundings reminded him of his "living room at home" picked out four acts to join him at his Halloween gigs at the Roundhouse, north London, on October 31 and November 1.

Also on stage was a woman who did a headstand on broken glass while singing opera and a group made up of four women, a decapitated teddy bear, a syringe full of blood and an electric saw.

Among the winners, picked out by Cooper, 62, whose real name is Vincent Furnier, was ballet dancer Syban who accompanied her classical moves by sticking feathers with pins in into her arms and ended her show by piercing her cheeks with two roses.

Cooper said the half-Italian, half-Venezuelan dancer impressed him.

He said: "My wife and two daughters do ballet and I'm needle-phobic so that was just amazing.

"I can get on stage with the snakes and all that but I could never have a blood test so that was amazing."

Also chosen to appear on stage at the gigs were Damien S Fear and Raye-Gun.

The couple from Harrogate performed a blood curdling show which saw Damien lift up beer barrels attached to safety pins stuck in his arms.
