Road chiefs sorry for clear mistake

Highways officials apologise for spelling Keep Clear sign 'Keer Cleap'
Highways officials apologise for spelling Keep Clear sign 'Keer Cleap'

Highways officials apologised after a road marking was misspelt, leaving the words "Keer Cleap" painted in big white letters on a street, instead of "Keep Clear."

The mix-up was reportedly spotted by residents of Garden Walk in Royston, Hertfordshire, and corrected.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire County Council said: "This is clearly an error for which we can only apologise.

"We do not know how this happened but this has been a particularly busy period for Hertfordshire Highways and, unfortunately, this kind of thing can happen very occasionally."
