The man had been freed from the branches uninjured by the time firefighters arrived at the scene in a row of trees at Frocester Hill, near Stroud in Gloucestershire.

A Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said they were called to the rural area just before 10am on Friday.

"The paraglider was taking off when the incident occurred," she said.

"One fire engine from Stroud and one from Nailsworth attended with a total of 11 firefighters.

"Once in attendance they found the gentleman had fortunately been freed before they arrived and was not injured."
