The Scot's victory against Poland's Jerzy Janowicz, coupled with Novak Djokovic's shaky start against Juan Martin Del Potro in the longest semi-final in history, sent Murray mania into overdrive, according to ticket seller Viagogo.

The online marketplace registered more than a million searches as fans tried to get their hands on a pair of tickets for the final, with one pair of tickets on sale for a record £71,000.

Viagogo said that overnight after Murray's semi-final victory, demand for tickets to the men's final rose by 412%

And one pair of debenture tickets - the only ones permitted to be resold - has already been bought for £15,000, the company said.

The sale of the tickets for £7,500 each is a a huge increase on the £4,500 a ticket sold for last year.

Viagogo spokesman Ed Parkinson said: "With temperatures rising on Centre Court and the Wimbledon title tantalisingly close, the heat is on Murray.

"As he's progressed through the championship supporters from far and wide have been trying to snatch up the last available tickets, and we've seen record prices this year, with one pair of tickets being listed for £71,000."
