George Osborne says people seeking "selfie" photographs with celebrities is "quite a human reaction" - as he confessed he had one taken with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
But the awe-struck Chancellor conceded that the football boss - who has just steered his Blues to another Premier League title - had little idea who he was.
"It's a quite human reaction," he told ITV's The Agenda during a discussion about the growing number of voters taking pictures of themselves with politicians out on the General Election campaign trail.
"A couple of months ago I met Jose Mourinho, who manages the club I support, and the first thing I said was, 'I've got to get a selfie to show my family'.
"I got about three or four, one of which was good. It is just a very human thing of, 'Oh look, that person's off the telly'."
Asked if Mourinho had wanted a "selfie" with him, Mr Osborne said: "No, I think he was vaguely aware that I was the money guy."
