Nigel Farage's announcement that he might return to frontline politics hasn't got the best reception
He said he would have ‘no choice’ if Brexit negotiations are put at risk.
Nigel Farage has left open the possibility of a return to politics following the shocking General Election result.
The MEP said he would have “no choice but to return to frontline politics” if the Brexit he desires is put at risk by a hung parliament.
When he made the announcement on TV on Friday morning, it’s fair to say several people weren’t overly excited by it.
Did Nigel Farage threaten us with a return to British politics, or did I just have a nightmare?— Wayne Toghill (@WayneToghill) June 9, 2017
And when will Nigel Farage realise that no one wants UKIP to have any sort of power. Don't make a return to politics, just disappear #Ge2017— Tajha Myer (@MissTajha) June 9, 2017
Many were confused about why he was even on the TV at all, given his former party Ukip has no MPs.
GET NIGEL FARAGE OFF THE TV! He's not elected, not a party leader, he's nothing, he's history. Get him off...— Rob Hopkins (@robintransition) June 9, 2017
Representing whom? The party he once led have no MPs. Shouldn't we hear more from, say, the Greens, than him?— Paul Hughes (@paulhughes83_uk) June 9, 2017
But his supporters welcomed the news.
Nigel Farage please return, #brexit is yours— Mike J (@mikejay_101) June 9, 2017
Current party leader Paul Nuttall failed in his bid to win a Commons seat, finishing a distant third in Brexit heartland Boston and Skegness behind the Tories.
