Shoppers at an Ohio supermarket have an unusual obstacle to negotiate - a nesting mallard.

A small sign advises shoppers to beware of the female mallard duck, which is nesting atop bags of mulch at a Giant Eagle store in Medina, and urges them to grab their mulch from another pile at the store entrance.

The duck is sitting on at least 10 eggs in a nest assembled on top of an 8ft stack of bags, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Store officials think she laid the eggs a couple of weeks ago.

A store spokeswoman told the newspaper two male mallards were seen in the parking lot earlier this spring.
