A bomb-sniffing dog credited with saving a military patrol in Afghanistan is retiring with full military honours.
Military officials say that in 2012, a Belgian Malinois named Eddie found two improvised explosive devices containing 10 pounds of homemade explosives. It saved the lives of his 13-member patrol unit, which was made up of US allied forces.
Eddie is assigned to MacDill's 6th Security Forces Squadron and has served for about five years. In retirement, he will be reunited with his first handler, Andrew Grymes.
