The Greater Manchester Police officer who has been named as Inspector Jacqui Prest was caught on camera hot-footing it along the city's Portland Street to the Footloose soundtrack.

The video which has been uploaded to YouTube sees Inspector Prest begin the impromptu dance during the annual LGBT festival against a backdrop of cheering crowds.

Already the clip has been shared more than 200,000 times and shows her strutting her stuff before a male colleague joins in - who is perhaps not as elegant on his feet.
