An American football player with Oregon State University has been dismissed from the team after police claimed they found him naked and intoxicated in a stranger's home.

Officers used stun guns on him and took him into custody early on Sunday.

Corvallis Police lieutenant Tim Brewer said officers ordered 19-year-old Tyler Thomas of Kalispell, Montana, to get on the ground. Thomas apparently refused and allegedly dropped into a three-point stance like a football player and lunged at the officers. Lt Brewer said two officers then shot him with their stun guns.

Thomas "absolutely was intoxicated", according to Lt Brewer.

The football player was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

University athletics spokesman Steve Fenk said the player was dismissed from the team on Monday.
