A man had his appointment for a trim cut short after he and his hairdresser gave chase to a thief who stole a mobile phone from the salon while he was in the barber's chair.
Hairdresser Darren Greenfield was cutting regular customer Kevin Winson's hair at the John Newman Hairdressing salon in Kettering when the thief came in and snatched the owner's phone.
Mr Greenfield, who lives in Weldon, said: "I was just in the middle of cutting Kev's hair when I saw him come in. He looked suspicious and I thought he didn't look like a potential client. All of a sudden John shouted 'He's got my phone'."
Darren and Kevin, still with the hairdresser's cape around his neck, chased the thief across Market Square before cornering him in a side street.
John Newman, 56, who runs the family-owned salon, said he tried to give chase but could not keep up.
"I saw my customer and hairdresser run by. It was so funny. It looked like something out of Batman and Robin with the cape behind," he said.
The thief was handed over to two Police Community Support Officers who arrived at the scene.
After a search, John's phone was found in a nearby hedge.
Isaia Stoian, 18, from Ilford, Essex, was jailed for 26 weeks at Kettering Magistrates' Court after admitting to the theft.
Mr Greenfield, 31, said: "Afterwards, we went back to the shop and I finished cutting Kev's hair. He paid for his hair cut but the next one is definitely free!"
