Sean Lloyd, 49, spotted a shiny coin outside a shop and then rubbed it on the ticket which landed him £1.8 million on the Lotto quadruple rollover on January 28.

He immediately quit his job as a bus driver and seven months on has built a lasting tribute to his success in the back garden of his new dream home where he lives with his wife and four children.

Mr Lloyd, of Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, said: "Creating a lucky wishing well is something I just felt had to be done. I wanted to pay homage to my change in luck and have a bit of fun too.

"It is the first thing I see every morning when I wake up and open the curtains.

"I will certainly be encouraging all of my family and friends who visit to throw a penny into the fountain - and perhaps I can bring them some good luck too!"

The wishing well features a giant hand with crossed fingers holding a replica of the lucky penny.

Mr Lloyd added: "Since finding the penny, and the lottery win, I have kept the penny safe in my wallet and often rub it on other lottery tickets I've bought as well as lending it to friends. It is still proving to be lucky - I've had lots more smaller wins since the big one earlier this year."
