The last Mini to leave the Longbridge factory has sold at auction for £1,400.

The battered bodyshell of the Mini Clubman 1275 GT lay in the tunnels under the factory for more than 30 years.

The car was used by factory workers to travel around the sprawling site until it was secretly "dumped" in the tunnels after it was damaged when a storage container fell on it.

It was recovered in 2012 before the tunnels were filled in for development work that was due to take place on the site, making it the last Mini to leave Longbridge.

The car was auctioned by Silverstone Auctions at the Silverstone racing circuit in Northamptonshire as part of their Classic Car, Motorcycle, Automobilia and Lifestyle sale.

The last original Mini rolled off the production line at the Longbridge plant in October 2000.
