Horse bites off woman's finger
A Birmingham woman has lost part of her finger when it was bitten off by a horse, an ambulance service said.
She had been feeding the stallion when it bit her right hand, caught one of the fingers and removed the end joint, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
Ambulance staff arrived at the scene - some land in the Harborne area of Birmingham - and searched for the missing finger but it could not be found.
The woman, aged in her 70s, was taken to the city's Selly Oak Hospital where she was due to receive treatment.
The ambulance service described the incident as "unfortunate".
A spokesman said: "The woman had made a good job of first aid on the injury prior to ambulance staff arriving.
"They took over and continued treatment while searching for the missing digit.
"Sadly, no trace could be found of the finger."
