Gareth Bale scores again as council renames itself after Euro 2016 star
A county council renamed itself after superstar Gareth Bale following Wales's Euro 2016 triumph.
Wales made history by making it into the last 16 of the tournament following an emphatic 3-0 win over Russia.
Vale of Glamorgan officials announced that for one night only, the local authority was to be called Bale of Glamorgan.
And it proved a hit with social media users - with a doctored signpost being shared almost 400 times.
Twitter user Siriol Griffiths wrote: "Nice touch by my home county."
A similar move was also carried out by officials in Bala, north Wales, who temporarily renamed the village Bale after the Real Madrid forward.
Local councillor Dilwyn Morgan said: "It's a brilliant idea and a great way to honour Gareth Bale and get behind the Welsh squad for Euro 2016.
"Gareth Bale is an international sporting star, and this move should put Bala, sorry, Bale, on the international map."
