One lane was closed on the A737 between Johnstone and Kilbarchan in Renfrewshire at around 4pm for a clear up operation to take place.

The incident generated inevitable fishy puns on social media, with Traffic Scotland tweeting: "C lean up works now underway on lane 2! Trout you'd appreciate a photo."

Another tweet said : "Any more fish puns or do you need time to mullet over? Let minnow and get them in quick before salmon else does."
