Crowds of clowns on pilgrimage

There was a lot of clowning around in Mexico City - but in fact the red-nosed crowds were on a pilgrimage.
The group took part in a two-hour march along the city's famous avenue Calzada de Guadalupe to give thanks at the Basilica of our Lady of Guadalupe.
The basilica is built on the site where Juan Diego is believed to have seen the Virgin of Guadalupe in the 16th century, and the groups of juggling, oversized shoe-wearing pilgrims attended to pay tribute for another year of clowning around.
