George Osborne has blamed camera angles for exaggerating Home Secretary Theresa May's low-cut top in the Commons.

Images from the Budget speech show Mrs May sitting next to the Chancellor with a plunging neckline on her orange dress.

It was the first time a stills photographer has been allowed to use the gallery above the chamber.

Asked on LBC radio whether he had provided the "boom" and Mrs May had provided the "bust", Mr Osborne replied: "I did see those photos. All I can say is I think it is something to do with the camera lens and the angle."

Last year the Commons installed extra eye-level cameras to film debates following complaints that the traditional elevated positions were unflattering.
