A basement flat which is "bordering on the bizarre" after being covered in dark blue tiles has come up for rent.

Would-be tenants for the "wipe clean" one-bedroom flat in Walthamstow, east London, would have to pay £900 a month to live there, according to the advert on the SpareRoom house share website.

The flat boasts shiny deep blue tiles which dominate the walls and floors of the open-plan living room and kitchen.

There is also a separate toilet and double bedroom which has been spared from the eye-catching decoration.

SpareRoom director Matt Hutchinson said: "It's certainly unique and bordering on the bizarre. We've not come across a flat like this before on the site.

"It's certainly not something you see every day.

"This wipe-clean Walthamstow pad might appeal to someone who doesn't like dust, but it could be tricky to shake the feeling you're living in a swimming pool."

The flat is available in one of the more affordable parts of London to rent, according to SpareRoom.

A double room in a shared flat or house in London costs an average of £747 per month, while it is £607 per month in Walthamstow - but the average rent for a one bedroom flat like this would be higher.

The advert suggests that a professional couple would be preferred and that the space, which is a 10-minute walk from the station, can come either furnished or unfurnished.
