A motorcyclist is preparing for the road trip of a lifetime - to visit 34 towns which are all called Manchester.
Pete Johnson, 53, will cover around 9,600 miles starting from Manchester in England to visit 32 towns of the same name in the US and one in Canada.
The Salford-born entrepreneur, who now lives in Sale, has always wanted to ride across the US to reach the American town of Manchester, California.
He has been planning the trip for three years and helped realise his biking dream thanks to a competition run by Bennetts, a specialist insurance firm for motorcyclists.
Mr Johnson will complete the journey on a 1,800cc Honda Goldwing which he will pick up in Boston, the US.
"Whilst I love my home town of Manchester it will be brilliant to visit all the different Manchesters of America," he said.
Mr Johnson will be updating his progress on his blog unitedstatesofamanchester.blogspot.com.
