Big game for Welsh fan and English fiancee after Paris match
A couple from either side of the England-Wales border will be celebrating their recent engagement by watching the two sides square off in Euro 2016.
Darren Crandon, 32, from Cardiff, got down on one knee and proposed to Emma White, 24, originally from Brighton, ahead of Chris Coleman's side's historic 2-1 win against Slovakia last Saturday.
The couple met in an Irish bar in the East Sussex seaside resort and two years ago Miss White moved across the border to Wales.
Mr Crandon popped the question in the fan zone in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris with fans cheering as she said yes.
Now, the couple will return to watch the game in the French capital on Thursday afternoon.
He said: "I had been planning the proposal for about two months prior to the tournament but was actually looking to do it just before the Wales v England game.
"But I decided whilst we were all dressed up on Saturday for the Wales and England first tournament games ... I took the ring with me just in case."
Mr Crandon, an engineer, said he tipped off an Italian news team as well as other fans about the forthcoming proposal and added: "I was really nervous doing it, knowing the camera was on me, but felt very excited at the same time."
He said: "The feeling when she said yes was amazing and watching all the different countries all celebrating was something special."
Mr Crandon's prediction for Thursday's game is a 2-1 win for Wales, with Gareth Bale scoring, while Miss White reckons it will end up 1-1.
