Bear gatecrashes college party
College students took a walk on the wild side when an uninvited guest gatecrashed a party.
Authorities said a black bear wandered close to the party early today near the campus of Lehigh University, about 50 miles north of Philadelphia.
Emergency officials received a flood of 911 calls after the 300 to 400lb black bear was seen in south Bethlehem.
Police chief Mark DiLuzio said the bear "lumbered close to the party and scared the living daylights out of people".
Lehigh University said on its website that the bear was captured, tranquilised and removed from the area a couple hours later.
Mr DiLuzio said it was the same bear seen on Friday near the university's athletic facilities.
Pennsylvania Game Commission district officer Tyler Krieder said the bear came from New Jersey and probably swam across the Delaware River.
