Baroness complains of cold Lords

Lady Trumpington queried the heating facilities of the House of Lords chamber

Baroness Trumpington has complained about the temperature in the House of Lords, questioning whether a money-saving energy tariff was being used.

The 90-year-old Tory peer, who recently appeared on the BBC show Have I Got News for You, made her views on the chilly chamber known as peers discussed the Government's attempts to get energy companies to lower bills for consumers.

Lady Trumpington demanded: "Whose tariff is employed to heat this House? The tariff is very low because it is very cold."

Energy minister Baroness Verma, who was answering questions for the Government, said she did not take responsibility for the the tariff in the House but would pass on Lady Trumpington's views to the facilities department.
