A young mother died in a road accident while en route to her own hen party.

The 26-year-old bride-to-be was fatally injured in the tragic car crash just minutes after taking a selfie with her travelling companion in the vehicle.

Mother-of-one, Collette Moreno, from Missouri, was a passenger in the car and was wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred.

Her driving companion was reportedly trying to pass a truck when it collided with an car travelling in the opposite direction.

Ms Moreno leaves behind a five-year-old son Brayden, fiance Jesse Arcobasso (28) and a devastated family.

She was in the passenger's seat when a car being driven by her friend Ashley Theobald (26) collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed the incident between the two vehicles in an online crash report.

Ms Moreno was taken to a Columbia hospital from the scene of the accident where she was later pronounced dead.

A YouCaring page has been set up to raise money for Moreno's funeral and travel expenses so that her family can attend.
