A worker building a monorail in Brazil's biggest city, Sao Paulo, has died after a section of the prestigious project collapsed.

At least two others had been injured, BBC has reported.

It had been intended that the 17.7km monorail be finished on time for the football World Cup which starts in three days time. However, it is behind schedule.

The monorail would have connected the Congonhas airpor to three metro lines for World Cup fans.

In total, eight workers have died in accidents during the building of Brazil's 12 World Cup arenas.
